Fishing

Just as Guanaja is one of the best-kept diving secrets in the Caribbean, the same can be said for its fishing – especially fly fishing. It offers some of the most pristine and untouched permit and bonefish flats in the Caribbean. Excellent deep-sea fishing charters include opportunities to fish for wahoo, mahi mahi, and marlin.

Experience deep sea fishing or some of the most untouched permit flats in the Caribbean.

Fly Fishing

Most fly fishermen have never even heard of Guanaja, but trust us, this pristine flats fishery in the Caribbean is an exceptional destination, especially between December and July. Picture your saltwater fly-fishing experiences in Mexico and Belize, then remove 95% of the other anglers from the picture.

The flats here, a highly diverse flats system, with sand, turtle grass, and coral flats, are rarely fished. This means there is very little angling pressure on the fish, which is good news for the fish and the fisherman!

Permit and Bonefish are present in exceptional numbers, and guests should have high expectations at having multiple shots at tailing bonefish. But there will also be opportunities to target other species, in particular tarpon.  Lots of fish and negligible angler pressure give anglers a realistic chance of a grand slam (bonefish, tarpon, and permit on the same day). We work with local guides who are experts in their field and offer full or half-day fly fishing/casting expeditions.  They are also happy to offer lessons.
