Our Dive Center

The PADI 5 Star Dive Center operates two custom dive boats: the 45’ Freedom and 40’ Endeavor each have the capacity for up to 20 divers. The boats have wide platforms for giant stride entries and sturdy ladders for exiting the water. They are provisioned with drinking water, fruit for snacking, freshwater showers, towels, camera rinse tanks, dry storage, shaded areas, and all required safety equipment.

Boat rides vary from 20 – 30 minutes for dives along the south to up to 45 minutes for dives along the northern coast. Boats generally depart at 8:30 am for the morning 2-tank dive, returning for lunch with the afternoon boat leaving a reasonable time after lunch has concluded.

The Dive Schedule

We do three dives per day Sunday - Thursday, and two morning dives on Friday. In addition, one night dive is included with any seven night package. The night dive is generally conducted on Tuesday evening. Therefore, there is no afternoon dive on that day. We do not dive on Christmas Day or New Years Day.

If we are diving the north shore of Guanaja, we may stay out for a three-tank dive and lunch will be prepared during a break between the second and third dive.

Two tank sizes are available: 63 cu ft and 80 cu ft tanks.  Nitrox is also for a $10.00 upgrade per tank or unlimited for $150.00 a week plus tax. Unlimited tanks are available at no extra charge for guests who wish to do training dives or recreational dives “around the rock."

Concierge Dive Services

Our friendly and professional PADI staff pride themselves on not just being your guides but your dive concierges. Therefore, you'll need to plan on leaving the lifting, hauling and packing of all the diving gear to them!

Our team will carefully carry your gear onto the boats, prepare it for the dive, change it over for the second dive, and rinse and store it at the end of the day. Consequently, your only assignment while on board is to do a check to make sure you have all your gear before we depart.  then sit back and enjoy the ride.

Rental Gear

We have a substantial stocked of well maintained rental equipment including ScubaPro BCD’s in a variety of sizes, regulators, full foot fins, masks and snorkels, and dive computers.

We also have wet suits, but in a limited quantity, so you may wish to consider bringing your own.

Prior to your arrival at Dunbar Rock, you will receive a guest questionnaire in which we inquiry about your need for rental gear.  We should be able to accommodate all rental gear requests, but it is important we know in advance in the event you require an “unusual” size BCD or fin size.

If you are bringing all or part of your own gear, our dive staff will take care of it for you throughout the week. We will store it, rinse it and air dry it daily, and have it ready for you on the boat the next morning.  All you need do it a gear-check before the dive boat departs the dock to ensure all of on board.

Private Dive Guide

Even with our concierge dive service and low diver-to-dive guide ratio, there are times when hiring a Private Dive guide is a great option.  For example, if you are new to diving, Likewise, if you are new to a particular dive experience such as a night dive or deep water wreck dive, having a private guide can give you more peace of mind.

In addition, photographers often like to take advantage of the sharp eyes of the guides who are experts at finding Guanaja's amazing macro critters. Having a private guide means taking as long as you like to get that perfect shot.

Or it may be that you simply prefer the one-on-one experience.
