Planning Your Arrival in Roatan
To get to Guanaja, you will first need to book your flights into the Juan Manuel Galvez Roatan International Airport (RTB)
There are direct flights into Roatan from Miami, Atlanta, and Houston, all subject to change. Please make sure you book incoming flights arriving in Roatan no later than 2:00 p.m. Likewise, your connecting flights out of Roatan should not be booked any earlier than a noon departure.
Once in Roatan, there are two options to reach Guanaja. Most of our guests arrive in Guanaja via ferry from Roatan. However, charter plane options are available for up to 3 people on a private single-engine plane or, for groups, charters on a CM Airlines twin-engine turboprop. Our Staff will work with you or your travel planner to arrange your ferry or flight.
Upon arrival into Roatan, you will first clear immigration. The next stop is the baggage carousels, where you will grab your bags. Depending upon the airport rules in effect when you arrive, a baggage handler named Oliver (or, in his absence, Orlando) will be near the carousel or at the end of the baggage x-ray machine belt. Guests can feel comfortable utilizing the baggage handler's trustworthy services, and tipping them will be greatly appreciated. Oliver or his alternate will be looking for Villa on Dunbar Rock luggage tags that will be mailed to you, so please use those on all your checked luggage.
On many occasions, a member of the Dunbar Rock staff may also be at the airport to greet you.
Our Staff/Oliver/Orlando will help you with your luggage and assist you in finding your transfer company if you are taking the Ferry to Guanaja or get you checked in to your onward flight if flying on a charter flight to Guanaja.

Ferry to Guanaja
We think the most enjoyable option to reach Guanaja is via the Galaxy Wave Ferry from Roatan.
The Ferry is a 52' Catamaran yacht. We prefer to book our guests in the First Class section, which accommodates 60 passengers in an enclosed upper deck of the vessel with privacy, more space, and comfort. In addition, First Class offers a complimentary soft drink and snack during the trip, TV screens, and private washrooms. Should you wish to spend part of the time outdoors, First Class guests can also sit or visit the area outside. Please get in touch with us for current pricing. On Saturdays and Wednesdays, the Ferry currently departs for Guanaja at 4:00 pm. Therefore, guests should be at the ferry ½ hour before departure.
Reservations should be made with us in advance so that transfers can be pre-arranged from the airport. The ferry fees will be prepaid along with your Resort package.
Airport to/from Ferry Transfers: Transfers can be arranged for individuals and groups. Please contact us for current pricing. The transfer fees will be prepaid along with your Resort package. Gratuities are not included, so tipping your transfer driver will be greatly appreciated.
Your transfer driver will take you to the ferry terminal, where Galaxy staff will be ready to take your checked luggage. Three checked bags are allowed for free, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs. each. (Great news for our photographers and divers!)
After boarding, sit back, relax, and let the vacation experience begin on the scenic 1 1/2-hour motor to Guanaja.
The ferry arrives at the boat landing at Bonacca Cay, Guanaja, at 5:30 pm, perfect timing to watch the sun begin to set. Since the main mode of transportation in Guanaja is via boat, watching the small outboards arriving to pick up family and friends makes for a very interesting cultural experience.
The staff from Dunbar Rock will be waiting for you at the bottom of the gangplank to meet and greet, collect your luggage, and take you on the 5-minute boat ride to the Island.
For the return trip, the staff will deliver you to the ferry dock around 8:00 am for the 8:30 departure to Roatan, where the ferry docks at 10:00 am. Once you have collected your luggage in the baggage terminal, a driver will be outside the baggage claim waiting for you if we have booked your transfers.
